Dig in, grow food!

Our family likes to grow what food we can, and we have community garden plots in Redmond and Sammamish that we love to garden.  We’re very proud to have volunteered our time for the creation of the Sammamish Community Garden at the Lower Commons Park last year, and to the record year of food donated to Hopelink in Redmond through our plot at Marymoor!

We really love how gardening welcomes and encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to come together and be community.  It’s such a great place for relaxing and contemplating while gardening.  We love how our toddler helps us harvest and enjoys eating her vegetables too!

We hope those with bounty aplenty are having a good harvest season, and that those without enough to eat are able to find and get the help that they need.  Food, shelter and health are the basic necessities of life.  Sometimes it’s hard to think that there are people here in Sammamish, Redmond and Issaquah without these basics, but there all.  Let’s not only think of those less fortunate, but be sure to help our community out as we can.
